John Allison | President & Chief Investment Officer

John serves as President and Chief Investment Officer of Allison Investment Management, LLC. He is a graduate of Wofford College with a BS degree in Economics. He holds the Series 7, Series 8, Series 63, and Series 65 registrations.

He began his career in the investment industry in 1982 when he joined the Columbia, SC office of Smith Barney. He went on to serve as the Branch Manager of Smith Barney’s Winston-Salem, NC and Greensboro, NC offices from 1992 to 1998. He left Smith Barney as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager in 2000 and joined Fisher Investments as Regional Vice-President in their Private Client Group. After decades of successfully managing accounts for high-net-worth individuals and institutions, he founded Allison Investment Management, LLC with his son in late 2002.

In addition to his role at Allison Investment Management, LLC, John puts his broad financial industry experience to work by serving as an industry arbitrator with FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). He is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society of South Carolina, and the New York Society of Security Analysts.

David Allison | Vice-President

David co-founded Allison Investment Management, LLC with his father at the beginning of 2003. He has over a decade of experience managing investment portfolios for high-net-worth investors. In addition to his work experience, he has received a high level of formal training in investment analysis, portfolio management, and investment performance measurement techniques. His investment analysis and commentary have been published by Forbes Media, The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and many other major news publications.

He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he majored in Finance. David continued his professional education by earning the Chartered Financial Analysts® (CFA®) designation in 2005 and the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) designation in 2008. He currently holds the following registrations- Series 7 and Series 66.

In addition to his role at Allison Investment Management, LLC,  David strives to improve his professional competence as well as the competence of other investment professionals. He is an active member of the CFA Institute, the CIPM Association, and the CFA Society of South Carolina, where he is a past President and currently serves on the Board of Directors.
